Who is responsible
RAMASWAMY KUMAR and ASHUTOSH jointly decide how customer information is used for this website, its protected ebook reader, orders and customer support. RAMASWAMY KUMAR is the author and seller. ASHUTOSH manages the website and customer operations under the currently unregistered trade name Powai Lake Studios. The trade name is not a separate registered company.
For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected] or write to either of us at 303, Glen Classic, Hiranandani, Powai, Mumbai – 400076, India. You may approach either person; the shared contact does not limit your applicable rights.
What we use and why
- Account and purchased access: email, an optional linked phone number, verification challenges, sessions and book entitlements, to provide the account and access you request (contract).
- Orders and fulfilment: name, contact details, selected books, prices, payment references and status, and delivery address for physical orders, to process and fulfil purchases (contract) and retain records required by applicable law (legal obligation).
- Support and customer records: correspondence and necessary relationship notes, to answer requests and resolve order or access issues (contract); where appropriate, legitimate interests in maintaining relevant customer-service records.
- Security: request metadata, rate-limit records, session checks and access history, for the legitimate interests of protecting customers and preventing fraud or unauthorised access.
- Optional analytics and YouTube media: only with your separate choices in Cookie settings (consent). A purchase or privacy acknowledgement does not subscribe you to marketing.
Essential account and order information is needed to provide the relevant service. Optional analytics and media are not required for checkout or reading. We do not use an automated decision to determine your legal rights; technical checks protect account access and verify payment.
Payments and service providers
HDFC SmartGateway handles online payments. Our reviewed application records order and gateway references and payment status; it does not collect full card numbers or CVV. Payment providers process information under their own responsibilities and notices.
Cloudflare provides hosting, protected content delivery, database and security infrastructure. Resend sends login and order emails and processes recipient addresses and message content. Customer correspondence is also held in the support mailbox. Necessary delivery details are shared with the provider fulfilling a physical order. Information may be disclosed where required by applicable law or to handle a dispute.
Providers can process information outside your country, including the United States. Resend states that its message content and delivery records are stored in the United States and describes Standard Contractual Clauses in its data-processing terms; an EU sending region does not move that stored data to the EU. Contact us for information about the providers and transfer safeguards applicable to your information. Provider-account contracts and transfer arrangements remain subject to verification; this notice is not a certification of GDPR compliance.
Provider information: Cloudflare · Resend · Google / YouTube.
Information on your device
Essential storage supports login, purchased access and cookie choices. Your reader saves account-scoped progress, bookmarks and notes in your browser. These may remain after logout and are not included in the account-data export. Authorised offline reading saves selected books, music and access information on your device. Offline devices cannot check revocations until reconnection; saved access is limited by its expiry. Use a trusted device.
You can remove a saved volume through the reader’s Tools menu. Clearing this website’s and the reader subdomain’s browser storage removes local notes, saved books and access information and may sign you out. Save any notes you need first. Fonts are served by this website without a Google Fonts connection.
Retention
Our financial-record retention review period is 5 years after the end of the financial year of the transaction. Longer retention applies where required by applicable law, an unresolved dispute or a legal hold. Financial deletion requires a review of applicable statutory requirements; reaching five years does not automatically delete an invoice or remove purchased book access.
Account and entitlement records are kept while needed to provide your account and purchased access, or to resolve related legal obligations or claims. Necessary access evidence is considered separately from optional customer notes. On an account-closure request, we assess what can be deleted and explain any justified retention.
Expired login challenges, sessions, reader tickets and rate-limit records are eligible for deletion after a 24-hour operational buffer. Housekeeping runs on successful code requests and can be run by authorised staff. Accepted email payload copies in the application are redacted after 30 days, except unresolved access-ready follow-ups; minimal order and delivery metadata remains. Provider-held copies follow the provider’s own settings.
Support messages and CRM notes are reviewed for continuing service need when an issue closes and on periodic review. Request decision records are limited to what is needed to demonstrate handling and resolve claims. Backup rotation and provider deletion are separate controls; contact us about information retained in backups or by providers. Browser-stored information remains until you remove it, the browser clears it or access controls clear cached content.
Your choices and rights
Where GDPR applies, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or object to processing, subject to the applicable conditions and exceptions. You may withdraw optional consent at any time through Cookie settings; withdrawal does not affect lawful processing before withdrawal. You can complain to a competent supervisory authority, including in the EU country where you habitually live or work or where the alleged infringement occurred.
Send requests to the privacy contact above. We may ask for proportionate information to verify identity, preferably through your existing account; do not send government identity documents unless specifically and justifiably requested. The general GDPR response period is one month. A permitted extension of up to two further months requires notice and reasons within the first month. We explain applicable exceptions, including records we must retain.
Signed-in readers can download their account, order and entitlement records from My Library. For a full access request, including support correspondence, CRM or provider records, contact us.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
This policy applies to purchases made through the official Ponniyin Selvan website. Please review the product format, digital Volume or Collector’s Part, price and delivery information before completing payment.
1. Multimedia Digital Editions and access
The Multimedia Digital Edition is provided as account-based access inside the protected reader, including authorised in-app offline reading where available. The illustrated book and its original copyrighted soundtrack are not supplied as downloadable files. Unauthorised downloading, copying, screen or audio recording, extracting, redistributing, publicly performing, reselling, or sharing account credentials is prohibited. The reader’s authorised “Save for flight” feature stores a private browser copy for use within the reader until access expires; it does not supply transferable book or soundtrack files. Offline revocation checks take effect on reconnection or saved-access expiry.
Because digital access is supplied immediately after purchase, an order cannot ordinarily be cancelled or refunded once access to the purchased Volume has been activated.
A refund or replacement access may be provided when payment was completed but access was not activated; the customer was charged more than once for the same order; the wrong digital Volume was activated because of a technical or administrative error; the purchased content remains inaccessible because of a verified website problem; or a refund is otherwise required under applicable law.
Customers should report a Multimedia Digital Edition access problem within 72 hours of purchase. We will first attempt to restore the correct access. If the verified problem cannot be resolved within a reasonable period, the eligible payment will be refunded.
A refund will not normally be provided because the customer changed their mind, did not like the book, purchased it without checking device compatibility, or no longer wishes to read it after digital access has been successfully supplied.
2. Premium Collector’s Hardcovers
An order for a Premium Collector’s Hardcover may be cancelled for a full refund if the cancellation request is received before dispatch. After dispatch, cancellation is not guaranteed, and an order cannot ordinarily be returned merely because the customer changed their mind.
A replacement or refund may be requested if the book arrives materially damaged; the wrong Collector’s Part is delivered; pages are missing, duplicated, incorrectly bound or unreadable because of a printing defect; the parcel is confirmed lost in transit; or the delivered product differs materially from its description.
The customer should contact us within 7 days of delivery and provide the order number, a description of the problem and clear photographs of the book and packaging.
Where a replacement is available, we may offer a replacement before issuing a refund. We will bear the reasonable return or replacement cost when the book is damaged, defective or incorrectly supplied. Minor variations in colour, printing or appearance that do not affect readability or use will not normally qualify as defects.
3. Shipping charges
If an order is cancelled before dispatch, the product price and any shipping charge collected will be refunded. For an approved return involving a damaged, defective or incorrectly supplied book, the original standard shipping charge will also be refunded or covered as part of the replacement.
Express-delivery charges, international duties and other non-recoverable charges may not be refundable unless the order was incorrect or defective because of our error.
4. Failed, pending or duplicate payments
If a payment fails but the customer’s account is debited, the customer should not immediately make repeated payments. Banks and payment systems normally process eligible reversals according to their prescribed timelines.
If an amount remains debited after the applicable banking period, or if the customer is charged more than once, the customer should contact us with the payment reference and order details. After verification, any duplicate amount received by us will be refunded. An order is confirmed only when successful payment confirmation is received and an order confirmation is issued.
5. Refund processing
Approved refunds will be returned to the original payment method wherever possible. We will initiate an approved refund within 7 business days. The customer’s bank, card issuer or payment provider may require additional time to credit the amount.
Processing time begins after the refund is approved and, where applicable, the returned printed book has been received or the payment has been verified.
6. Incorrect customer information
Customers are responsible for entering the correct email address, telephone number and delivery address. Please notify us immediately if any information is incorrect. We will try to correct it before digital activation or physical dispatch. Additional delivery costs caused by an incorrect or incomplete address may be payable by the customer.
7. Requesting assistance
Email [email protected] with the customer’s name, order number, registered email address, payment reference where relevant, reason for the request and photographs of damaged or incorrect Premium Collector’s Hardcovers where applicable.
We will acknowledge the request and communicate the outcome using the registered email address. Nothing in this policy limits any rights available to a customer under applicable Indian law.
Digital access and delivery
Multimedia Digital Edition access will be connected to the purchaser’s verified account after payment confirmation and is provided through the protected reader, including authorised in-app offline reading where available; no transferable book or soundtrack file is supplied. Hardcover delivery within India is ₹500 per Part in addition to the ₹3,000 book price, with an estimated delivery time of 5–7 business days. The six-Part hardcover package is ₹20,000 including delivery. Outside India, digital Volumes are available directly and hardcover orders are handled on request by email. International hardcover pricing and delivery will be confirmed individually.
